Lose Weight with Cactus Juice (Pierde Peso con Jugo de Nopal)

Juicing has become extremely popular in the last few years. People use it to supplement their diets, to detox their bodies, or for other health purposes (i.e. lose weight).

Today, I want to share with you a juice recipe that my mom used to make when I was a kid. I had not tried it in years, but as I'm trying to incorporate healthier habits into my life, I decided to give it another try. After all, I remember I kind of liked it!

What You'll Need

  • 1 cactus slice (I purchased mine already cleaned and cut. If you purchase it in its original form, please make sure to take off all of the cactus spikes/needles)
  • 1 slice of pineapple
  • 1 celery
  • 3-4 parsley "pieces" (or more if you want)
  • 2-3 squeezed Oranges (you can use 1-2 grapefruits, or you can also purchase squeezed orange juice. Make sure it says that it is 100% orange juice)
  • 1/2 glass of water (optional)
Put all ingredients in your blender and blend away!

Benefits

This juice is known to help people lose weight. I have been trying it for a couple of weeks, and it definitely makes me feel more active, and I also feel lighter (f.y.i. I never eat breakfast; therefore, this juice is definitely giving me the energy I need throughout the day!).

The ingredients that we used in this juice provide a vast amount of vitamins and health benefits. Pineapple is known to help prevent cancer, it helps clean the intestine, and it has high quantities of potassium, folic acid, vitamin C, among others. The cactus has vitamin C and E, fiber, calcium, and it also helps control diabetes. Celery is also high in potassium and sodium, it helps lower cholesterol and it aids in lowering hypertension. Parsley is also very important as it helps prevent cancer, facilitates digestion, and it helps eliminate toxins from our body. Lastly, as we all know, oranges are high in vitamin C, and they have huge amounts of calcium, iron,  and potassium.

If you have tried it, please let me know your thoughts. If not, what are you waiting for?
I promise it does not taste bad at all!
