Celebrating Every Goal + My Summertime Essentials + Outfit of the Day

Chicas! Que creen? Por fin cumplí una de mis metas; graduarme! Estoy extremadamente contenta de terminar un capitulo mas en el libro de mi vida! Siento como si fuera ayer cuando empece la Maestría. Estos dos años y medio fueron de mucho crecimiento a nivel educativo y profesional. Aunque debo confesar que aveces me estresaba por que casi no tenia una vida personal. El primer año dentro del programa fue el mas pesado ya que me la pasaba redactando resúmenes, ensayos, presentaciones, etc., pero después de ese año me acople a mi nuevo estilo de vida, pero extrañaba salir con mi familia sin tener la presión de exámenes, juntas, y de mas. Por eso, en estas ultimas semanas he tratado de incorporar actividades con la familia para Celebrar las metas que he hemos cumplido, por que no solamente me gradúe yo, también se graduó mi hermano! Así que tenemos mucho que celebrar como familia, como equipo!

En Estados Unidos los Latinos han sido etiquetados como personas que no valoran la educación. Y saben que? hemos demostrado una y otra vez que esa idea es equivocada. Cada que uno de nosotros nos graduamos contribuimos a desacreditar esa etiqueta/teoría. Por eso es para mi super importante celebrar este logro mío y de todos los estudiantes que no son representados en la educación superior. Si tu alguna vez has querido continuar estudiando pero alguien/algo te hizo sentir que la escuela/colegio/universidad no era para ti, yo solo te digo que tu eres el único que puedes ponerte barreras. Vence tu propio miedo y demuestrales y demuestrate que esas etiquetas no te definen a ti como persona. Si ya estas en el camino educativo, recuerda que aunque aveces parece que no llegamos a ningún lado, poco a poco vamos viendo los frutos. Yo estoy contenta por que justo antes de graduarme obtuve un nuevo trabajo que me llena de muchas satisfacciones y que en muchas maneras no hubiese obtenido si no fuera por mis estudios. Así que hechenle ganas y disfruten del verano para empezar el semestre que entra con mas fuerzas!

Desde el día que me gradúe hasta la fecha he estado haciendo muchas actividades en familia, desde comidas en el patio, hasta salidas a parques y playas para relajarnos y disfrutar de nuestra compañía. Como buena bloggera de productos de belleza se que nos tenemos que cuidar del sol, pero honestamente no era amante de los productos de protección solar ya que muchos me dejan la piel muy pegajosa y tienen un olor poco agradable. Esta vez tube la oportunidad de probar el protector solar Beach Defense de Neutrogena que tiene un SPF (FPS) de 70 y déjenme decirles que me encanto! Huele rico y se disuelve rápido en la piel sin dejar la piel grasosa. Ah, y paso la prueba con mi novio quien es muy peculiar con el tipo de cremas que usa por la misma razón que yo mencione anteriormente. Yo lo he estado usando a diario en los brazos ya que cuando manejo me pega el sol muy fuerte. Aunque no estoy fuera por mucho tiempo quiero prevenir quemarme por la salud de mi piel y también para que mis brazos no estén de diferentes tonos.

Otro producto para la salud que es esencial este verano (y siempre) son las pastillas de Tylenol, las cuales cargo en mi bolsa. El día de la graduación de mi hermano fuimos a dos ceremonias y aunque estuvieron muy bonitas, a la mitad del día mi cabeza estaba a punto de estallar, así que como no quiero que el dolor me agarre desprevenida y me impida disfrutar de este verano, las llevo en mi bolso por si hay alguna emergencia. Y obvio, mi acompañante #1 este verano es el gloss. En mi ultima visita a Walgreens, quien te da 3,000 puntos con su tarjeta de Balance Reward Member cuando compras $15 o mas en productos de Johnson & Johnson de Junio 6- Julio 27, me compre un nuevo color de los Moisture Smooth Color Sticks de Neutrogena en Sweet Watermelon. Si me siguen de tiempo, saben que el Fresh Papaya es uno de mis colores favoritos ya que humecta muy bien y se ve super bonito, asi que aproveche mi visita a Walgreens para comprarme uno nuevo.

Ahora que el verano comenzó oficialmente, y que estoy libre de redactar ensayos, hacer proyectos de verano, asistir a juntas y de mas, seguiré disfrutando de estos días "Semi-libres" para celebrar con las personas que me apoyaron y me echaron porras durante mi camino académico. La celebración de esta meta no se termina después de tu graduación el día que te dan el diploma, se celebra cada día que te despiertas sabiendo que lograste una mas de tus metas, uno mas de tus sueños!

Girls! Guess what? I finally accomplished one of my biggest goals. I graduated from my Master's program! I'm extremely happy to finish one more chapter in this book of my life. It feels like it was yesterday when I began my M.A. program, but it has been two and half years. In that time I grew a lot educationally and professionally. However, I have to confess that there were times where I felt frustrated because I did not have time to enjoy myself or my family and friends. I had (almost) no social life! I missed going out with my family without the stress of homework, meetings, projects, etc. For that reason, this summer is all about #celebratingeverygoal, celebrating graduation and not only mine, but my Brother's too, as he also graduated from college this month!

You know, in the US many Latinos have been thought of as people who do not value education, and you know what? We have proven that that paradigm is wrong. Every time that one of us graduates, we are debunking the Latino Paradigm theory. That's why celebrating my/our accomplishments is super important to me, as we are showing that underrepresented students are in academia and achieving higher education degrees. If anyone ever told you or made you feel that you were not good enough for higher education, I'm telling you that you can do it. Demonstrate them and demonstrate yourself that those negative connotations do not define you. If you are already on an educational path towards higher education, just know that although the path may seem slow, you will see the results of what you have been harvesting. So, keep working hard and enjoy the summer so that you can begin next semester with more strength!

Since the day I graduated until now, I've been doing many activities with my family. We've cooked outside in the grill, gone to the park, the beach etc. As a good beauty blogger, I know that we need to protect ourselves from the intense sun that the summer brings. A good sun block lotion is an essential item when celebrating out in the sun; however, I had never been a lover of sun protection lotions as many of them have a funny smell and leave my skin feeling sticky. I recently had the opportunity to try Neutrogena's Beach Defense with SPF 70 and I loved it. It is perfect for summer activities and celebrations. This lotion smells good, its lightweights, and my boyfriend (who is very picky when it comes to body lotions) really liked it too. I have been using it daily on my left arm where the sun hits it when I drive. Not only am I doing to keep my skin healthy, but also to prevent uneven arm tones.

Another summertime (and lifetime) healthy essential item for me is Tylenol, I try to carry some in my purse because I do not want a headache or any other symptom to hamper my summer plans. And obviously, my #1 favorite item for summer is lipgloss. In my last visit to Walgreens, who is giving 3,000 points when you use your Balance Rewards Member with the purchase of Johnson & Johnson products from June 6-July 27, I decided to purchase a second Moisture Smooth Stick in Sweet Watermelon from Neutrogena. If you've followed me for some time, you know that I LOVE my Moisture Smooth Stick in Fresh Papaya, and I wanted to get a second one that would hydrate my lips and give them a nice color tint.

Now that the summer has officially begun, and I'm officially free from summer projects, article write-ups, meetings, etc. I will continue to enjoy these "semi-free" days with those who supported me and cheered me up. The celebration of your accomplished goals does not end the day you walk across the stage to receive your diploma; the celebration continues every day when you wake up knowing that you accomplished another one of your goals and dreams!
