Que onda? You are probably asking yourselves why I'm writing in Spanish on the English section of this post and the truth is that there are some words and expressions that simply cannot be translated. Target's new campaign, #SinTraduccion, centers on this particular topic. As Latinos in the U.S., we sometimes struggle to find those perfect words to translate a particular saying or phrase, but it can be extremely challenging/impossible.
The other day I was watching Premios Juventud, one of the most popular award ceremonies that celebrates Latina/o pop culture. It is, as I call it, la noche más padre del año! I love award ceremonies and although a lot of people do fun get togethers, this year it was a stay-at-home night for me as I was off late from work, and I needed to wake up early the next day.
So, what did I do? I headed over to Target to buy my basic "Spa Night Kit," a couple other things for my Mom, Vicky, and I to much on, and other items that just made their way to my cart (that always happens at Target lol). One of the items I was not supposed to buy, but it ended in my cart, was the letter "A" marquee. I had been wanting one for a very long time and when I saw this one, my mind said matanga dijo la changa.... and I put it on my cart!
